Lunchroom Seating Area Renovation to Begin Soon
Englewood Elementary Families, Faculty, and Staff,
We are looking forward to seeing our students for the first day of school tomorrow, Thursday, August 8!
We want to let you know about a construction project you will soon see at our school. Englewood will be getting a complete renovation to the seating area in our lunchroom. About a week ago, a moisture issue was discovered in our lunchroom seating area. We have worked with an outside environmental testing service, to make sure the problem is contained to just this one area. Tests did confirm the presence of mold in the lunchroom seating area, confined only to this one part of our school. The kitchen was thoroughly inspected. Tests confirmed that the kitchen and other areas of the school were not affected by the moisture, and there is not a health and safety risk to students or staff.
To correct this problem, the seating area of our lunchroom is now closed, and will undergo a renovation. This means students will eat in their classrooms to start this school year. Meals will still be prepared in the kitchen, as this area is not affected by the moisture problem. Meals will be delivered to students in their classroom. We do not yet know a timeline for the renovation, but we expect it will take at least a few months.
We appreciate the patience of our Englewood students, families, faculty, and staff, in this change from our normal breakfast and lunch procedures. We will help our students adjust to this temporary change in how we have meals at our school, and we will keep you updated on the renovation process. While the timing of this project is certainly unexpected, it was important that we quickly correct this issue with our building.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tameka Rice
