Dr. Tameka Shamery Rice, Principal
Hello, my name is Tameka Rice. I am excited to be a member of such a wonderful faculty. This is my 16th year working in the Tuscaloosa County School System. Before becoming principal of Englewood, I served as the assistant principal at TPS, and I served as the Instructional Partner at Myrtlewood Elementary. Prior to being an instructional coach, I taught middle and high school science. This quote by Nelson Mandela sums up my philosophy of education “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
I am married to Ron Rice Sr and we have 5 wonderful children. I am a native of Tuscaloosa and a graduate of Central High School. As an undergraduate I attended Tuskegee University and the University of Alabama majoring in Biology and Secondary Education Science. I completed my Masters Degree in Reading and Administration as well as an Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama.
